A message from the Chairman
of the Luton Symphony Orchestra
to all members of our audience who are interested in the future of the orchestra.

This is to let you know that for what we hope will be a short time, we shall be suspending our concert-giving activities. Like many amateur societies, we are experiencing financial difficulties. We are also losing our conductor for the last 23 years – Uwe Radok who is retiring for personal reasons and will be a great loss to us. Considering these circumstances we felt it would be best to take stock of the situation, and we shall therefore use the early part of next year to do rehearsals only, and this will give us an opportunity to assess candidates for the conductor’s post. If all goes well, we hope to resume concert-giving in the not too distant future. As soon as we have any significant further news, we will post it on this website We all wish Uwe well, and also his wife Louise, who has played splendidly in the horn section and done sterling work as the orchestra’s secretary for many years.
